As tensions rise in our fair city, we continue to shine a bright and radiant light on hope. Cuz that's our dealio!
The Real Minneapolis cultivates hope, health, and healing. We respond to the immediate needs of our community by thoughtfully listening, and the current need: Our fearless and brave mini-warriors -- distance learners! (A global pandemic and civil unrest shan't not keep them down.)
Behold, we have created a unique and comfortable space for the most mighty of academic warriors: Hope Youth Center, a few blocks from George Floyd Square. We go WAY past the traditional pod model by providing not just technology, tutors and tools, but also delicious meals and snacks, art and music therapy, enrichment activities, and so much more. Gotta keep their bodies moving and creative minds stimulated! 95% of students are BIPOC and on free or reduced lunch, and about 60% have academic accommodations.
So stay awhile. Buy a groovy HopeHoodie to stave off those winter blues. Heck, buy 10 for all your TikTok buddies. And don't forget a masque to wear to your next Zoom masquerade ball.
All proceeds go directly to support HYC.

The Graves Foundation supported us with an in-kind donation of a fabulous little plot of land on the corner of 38th & Chicago, where the community teenagers planted and maintained their sweet little summer vegetable garden! They also gave us a Rapid Response grant of $5,000 that helped us purchase a desperately needed utility trailer to transport and store all of our supplies. We received a second $5,000 from Graves Foundation after they toured our facility and learned of our vital work as public health amassadors.
Best Buy was our earliest corporate champion! They contributed $10,000 to help us get our Hope Youth Center going. We started in Phelps Park in tents due to difficulty finding anyone that would rent a space to us. Their contribution helped us purchase incredible "glamping" tents and other supplies to be able to operate the Hope Youth Center in a Park! In addition, they loaned us professional cameras to teach our BIPOC Youth Photo Classes.
T-Mobile donated $10,000 as part of their #CaptureKindness initiative. And can you believe -- they posted the donation on our GoFundme of all places! Their contribution supported our infrastructure and setting up our new facility in Allina headquarters: Hope Youth Center.
Being a fledgling nonprofit, our resources were limited, so we reached out to our neighbors at Midtown Global Market. Dana, Sean, and their team at NATIFS heard u and saw us and responded by donating nearly $6k in gift certificates to be used at any of the fabulous BIPOC owned food vendors in Midtown Global Market!
Dorsey & Whitney LLP has been providing us with Pro Bono Legal Services. Thank you -- we love our attorney Nur!

RT Rybak, President & Chief Executive Officer of The Minneapolis Foundation, donated $5,000 out of the Presidential Fund to help us pay for our Summer Youth Garden. The funds were used for gardening needs and to pay community teenagers $14.50 an hour throughout the summer to spearhead the garden and mentor the younger kids!
Marty with In•Signity, Chef Mateo of Krewe Cajun & Creole Restaurant, our fabulous team of powerhouse Executive Women that believed in us, mentored us, and advocated for us from the very beginning (you know who you are).
